In case you haven’t heard (let’s face it, this isn’t A-Rod or Lady Gaga caliber news), 8-time Olympic Gold medalist swimmer Jenny Thompson was assaulted as she drove her scooter through the wealthy Boston suburb on Brookline Monday night. A native of the fine state of New Hampshire, Thompson pulled her scooter over next to a car that had just parked to inform the driver that the cars’ lights were out. Two teenagers emerged from the car, one of them telling Thompson, “You’re lights are out,” seconds before punching her in the face. The teens tried to steal Thompson’s scooter, but she wouldn’t let go and scared the teens away as she screamed for help. Three suspects were later arrested — and Thompson is OK.
